Cheer with this Vampiro Cocktail!
This Vampiro Cocktail with Don Julio tequila was favorite of my Uncle Checo who became an important father figure in my childhood. He had a vacation home in Cuernavaca, a small town known for its fantastic sunny weather and perfect climate, attributes that win the city to be called “the place of eternal spring”. Citizens of the DF love Cuernavaca because of its proximity, which makes this small town a great weekend getaway to escape from the city’s bustle.
Tequila and sangrita are a traditional pairing that results in a Vampiro Cocktail
During the summer months, we would spend time as a family in my uncle’s house in Cuernavaca where we would organize many pool parties while my aunt would cook for us her famous enchiladas potosinas on the grill and the adults would enjoy a vampiro cocktail made with Don Julio tequila. A very well known brand in Mexico and a tequila that has a longstanding tradition for its quality making it the first luxury tequila in the marketplace.
Follow this step by step instructions or watch the video below to prepare the Vampiro Cocktail with Don Julio Tequila:
Don Julio González was the creator of the Don Julio tequila in Jalisco. With his craftsmanship and passion, he revolutionized the tequila industry making it what it is today.
Tequila and sangrita are a traditional pairing in my Mexican culture, and this Vampiro Cocktail combines the flavors of the high-quality smoky Don Julio tequila blanco with sangrita (a combination of tomato juice, spices, and orange juice) and grapefruit juice. It is called “vampiro” (vampire) because “sangrita” in Spanish means blood, and the taste of the drink has an enjoyable bite with the sweet and spicy flavor profile.
This Vampiro Cocktail is fun, with a little spiciness and refreshing, perfect for this coming weekend.
This cocktail also pairs well with a grilling menu with dishes like hamburgers and tacos. You can also serve it with guacamole, chips, and salsa as an appetizer prior to the big meal. I invite you to try this cocktail and celebrate just remember to drink responsibly and do not drink and drive.
