Cheer with this Vampiro Cocktail!

This Vampiro Cocktail withĀ Don Julio tequila was favorite of my Uncle Checo who became an important father figure in my childhood. He had a vacation home in Cuernavaca, a small town known for its fantastic sunny weather and perfect climate, attributes that win the city to be called “the place of eternal spring”. Citizens of the DF love Cuernavaca because of its proximity,Ā which makes this small town a greatĀ weekend getaway to escape from the city’s bustle.

Tequila and sangrita are a traditional pairing that results in a Vampiro Cocktail

During the summer months, we would spend time as a family in my uncle’s house in Cuernavaca whereĀ we would organize many pool parties while my aunt would cook for us her famous enchiladasĀ potosinas on the grill andĀ the adults would enjoy a vampiro cocktail made with Don Julio tequila. A very well known brand in Mexico and a tequila that has a longstanding tradition for its qualityĀ making itĀ the first luxury tequila in the marketplace.

Tequila and sangrita are a traditional pairing in my Mexican culture, and this Vampiro Cocktail combines the flavors of the high-quality smoky Don Julio tequila blanco with sangrita (a combination of tomato juice, spices, and orange juice) and grapefruit juice. It is called “vampiro” (vampire) because “sangrita” in Spanish means blood, and the taste of the drink has an enjoyable bite with the sweet and spicy flavor profile.
