High Tea Party Downton Abbey Style with egg sandwiches, tea, and meringues

I have been following Downton Abbey for the longest time. And I could not miss the chance to see the movie on the big screen too. But the good news is that now I can watch it at home at my own leisure and even invite my friends to a high tea party inspired by the movie.

The Downton Abbey DVD release was December 17th and now is the time to head over to Walmart or Walmart.com and purchase the new release of the Downton Abbey DVD today!

This is the tea time for Downton Abbey fans. Our menu includes tea sandwiches, Victoria sponge cake, floral tea infusion, homemade meringues, and strawberry fruit cups with freshly made whipped cream.

You are invited to a High Tea Party Downton Abbey Style!

Be our guest and join us for tea time. Our menu includes tea sandwiches, Victoria sponge cake, floral tea infusion, homemade meringues, and strawberry fruit cups with freshly made whipped cream.⁣⁣⁣

In preparation for our tea party and resembling the excitement of the Downton Abbey staff, we cleaned every surface and made everything sparkle. Took out our silver and glassware as well as our great grandmother teacups and plates.

Egg salad tea sandwiches made with hardboiled eggs, mayo, spicy mustard, white bread, and garnished with tomato and parsley.

Then headed over to the kitchen and made royal quality treats for the most delicious high tea party experience. Our savory selection includes egg salad tea sandwiches, topped with mini tomato, and parsley. These sandwiches are simple. I use hardboiled eggs, mashed the yolks, finely chopped the whites, combined with English spicy mustard and mayo.

Then I seasoned the salad with a dash of pepper and added chopped scallions. I cut white bread in squares, added the egg salad spread, and garnished with tomato and parsley.

Homemade Victoria Sponge Cake with whipped cream and berries

And since the queen enjoys sweets too, I made a classic Victoria’s sponge cake inspired by the original recipe. Used homemade berry jam and fresh berries. Find the recipe on the dessert tab, or search for “Victoria Sponge Cake” to find the recipe details.

An authentic high tea party experience includes strawberry cups and homemade whipped cream. We rose to the challenge and included the berry cups too.

And since we are also in the middle of the holiday season, we added homemade meringues inspired by the season and the flurries. The meringues recipe is on our homepage too.

The tea selection for the High Tea Party Downton Abbey Style is a blooming floral tea infusion sweetened with rock candy sugar wands. Don’t forget to raise your finger as the royals do. And pour fresh cream if desired.

Classic holiday meringues served on a silver plate. They come in drops, flurries, and mouse shapes.

Enjoy tea time and a movie at home!

Julian Fellowes, the Downton Abbey creator, got inspiration from a 1912 royal visit to Wentworth Woodhouse in Yorkshire to write the story. All the scenes and photography in the movie are stunning.

The Downton Abbey DVD is a perfect gift!

This Downton Abbey DVD is an expansion from the series, and all the characters I love are back together. The TV series was such a phenomenon, and the movie sums it up in a fantastic way.

I enjoyed the fashion and those scenes in the kitchen with the cooks getting excited with the news of hosting your royal highness, the queen. Not to mention the conversations and antics by the Dowager Countess of Grantham, Violet Crowley played by Maggie Smith.

My favorite quote of hers is “I never argue. I explain.” She couldn’t be more accurate. Now in pure Dowager Countess mode, please excuse myself, as I need to dress up, wear my tiara, and wait for my guests to arrive, are you ready to join me?

This is going to be one of a kind experience. And you are my special guest!
