Flavorful Extra Tender Grilled Cuban Style Pork Ribs

At home we love pork ribs especially if they are seasoned Cuban style with lemon juice, sour orange, garlic and Latin spices. These ribs recipe I am suggesting is simple to make and we are using the charcoal grill to add even more flavor.

No doubt pork back ribs are an excellent choice for Memorial Day celebrations, 4th of July and Father’s Day too. These ribs are very simple to prepare. We have seasoned and marinated them for an hour to then be grilled with charcoal at slow fire to give it that delicious golden color.

Ingredients

  • 1 Smithfield Pork Back Ribs
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 1 cup sour orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon oregano

Instructions

  • Clean well and remove the membrane located at the back of the ribs. This membrane is easy to remove and it is important to do so that the ribs are even more tender and it is easy to separate them when cooked.
  • Season the ribs on both sides so that the seasonings are evenly absorbed. And let it marinate inside the refrigerator for an hour.
  • Prepare the grill and charcoal. And when the charcoal turns white, grill the ribs for 45 minutes. Or until golden brown and the bones of the ribs are exposed at least 1/4.
  • Let ribs rest for few minutes after taking them out of the grill. And then cut to serve.
  • Pair the ribs with white rice, beans and homemade taquera sauce.

Notes

If you prefer a classic taste, use the KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce, Tabasco Sauce and even Budweiser beer to flavor your pork back ribs.

The Smithfield Pork Back Ribs are a very tasty cut too. They have lots of juicy tender meat. These ribs are cut by hand by the Smithfield experts, which makes a big difference. That’s why pork back ribs are a favorite cut. Whenever I prepare them, it’s a party at Casa Martin!

If you are one of those that does not feel confident enough to grill pork back ribs here are my expert tips:

  • Be sure to buy Smithfield Pork Back Ribs, this is my secret to success.
  • Clean the ribs well and remove the membrane located at the back of the rib. This membrane is easy to remove and it is important to do so that so that the ribs are even more tender and it is easy to separate them when cooked.
  • Season the ribs on both sides so that the seasonings are evenly absorbed.
  • For a classic flavor use Sauce KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce, Tabasco and even Budweiser beer to flavor these pork ribs.
  • Use Kingsford Charcoal and the fuel lighter of the same brand to help ignite the fire fast.
  • Let the charcoal turn white and then place the ribs on the grill. Make sure the temperature is not too strong as it is best to grill the pork back ribs at low heat.
  • You will know that the ribs are ready when the flesh contracts and exposes 1/4 of the bone.
  • Before cutting the ribs, you must let them rest to avoid losing precious juices before serving.

We also decided to make a festive table setting inspired with tropical pineapples and happy colors. All going very well together with the Cuban theme for our special grilling party.

And like every dish we make with pork, we like to pair it with other Cuban cuisine favorites. Such as white rice and beans. And since I am Mexican I like to offer homemade spicy salsa, tortillas and avocado slices too.

The spicy homemade salsa I made with grilled cascabel peppers, garlic, tomato and tomatillos. This hot salsa goes perfect with the Grilled Cuban Style Pork Ribs. All my ingredients I bought at Walmart. When you visit the store, buy the Smithfield Pork Back Ribs to organize that special BBQ at home next weekend or to celebrate Memorial Day Grilling.
