Giving Thanks to Parents

Sometimes we lose sight of the importance to giving thanks to parents. At this time of the year when we are thankful for the blessings and achievements it is the perfect timing for us to recognize those parents that are doing better than they think and to remind them all the good they do educating and loving their kids while guiding them through life.

Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful

You know life isn’t perfect. But who says life has to be perfect to be wonderful? The same applies to parenting. We as parents do not go to college to learn how to be parents. We are given that blessing to bring children into our lives and to educate them the best way we can and following what our parents did with us. When my mom was raising me, I think sometimes she thought she wasn’t “doin’ good” because she was very strict and firm with me. I even overheard my great grandmother telling her she was very hard with me. At that time I honestly thought my mom was not as loving as I thought she could be, however not having my dad and having to raise me as a single mom she wanted to make sure I was going to become a strong woman and have the tools to survive and succeed. Now I thank her for that since I have been successful despite the struggles of life and not having her by my side anymore.

This Thanksgiving eat turkey and thank those parents who are doing good.

I invite you reflect on this and recognize those that are doin’ good with their parenting by giving thanks to parents that make the difference despite the stress of the holidays. After all, this time of year can be challenging for some parents because they want to provide their families with the most magical experiences. So let’s remind them that sometimes the most perfectly imperfect moments are the ones that mean the most.

Tell us about a family member, friend, co-worker who you think is doing a better job as a parent than they may realize. Watch this video and get inspired.

Minute Maid’s “Doin’ Good” campaign is about celebrating moms and dads who are, in reality, doing better than they think. It’s about embracing the notion of perfect imperfection: making the most of the time we spend with our kids, and making the best of some of the more challenging moments of being a mom or dad. It’s also about recognizing other parents – maybe a friend, sibling or other relative – for the great job they’re doing. Visit or on Facebook
