I love to discover new flavors and fresh produce so got really excited when I found these at my local store and immediately I thought would go great for a green salad with spinach and pumpkin seeds.
But now let’s talk about this beautiful fruit and its properties. Gooseberries are related to the tomatillo and the Chinese lantern. The fruit looks like a small yellow tomato but when you bite into it, it has a tart, earthy and sweet flavor. Nothing like a tomato. The gooseberries can be eaten raw and also used for several applications like jams and desserts and also in saladas paired with avocado.
Gooseberries are low in calories and have vitamin C. This fruit is known to be a powerful antioxidant that is effective in boosting immunity. I has been said by nutritionists that daily consumption of gooseberries could help in neutralizing toxins that have build up in the body over a period of time promoting a healthier lifestyle.
That is why I invite you to try this fresh and delicious gooseberries and spinach salad you will love it it is the perfect combination of savory and sweet. This salad could be served as a lunch option but also on a special dinner.
You will be surprising your guests since very few people knows what is a gooseberry and how good and delicious it is. Never be afraid of produce and trying new things.
