The new year has started and with it new dreams and goals. Breakfast time for me is somewhat challenging, so I have created a Mexican Cocoa Peanut Delight Smoothie recipe that will help me accomplish my new year’s goal of eating breakfast everyday in 2016. This Mexican Cocoa Peanut Delight Smoothie has the nourishing protein from peanuts as I am using the new Jif Peanut Powder, pure cocoa nibs that I brought from Oaxaca, chia seeds I purchased in Mexico, orange blossom honey, cinnamon powder and unsweetened Silk Almond milk.
I do not believe in dieting, my approach for a better lifestyle is to opt for a balanced nutrition plan that includes ingredients from the different food categories, portion control and exercising regularly.
Eating breakfast is very important since it is the first meal of the day and sets how the rest of the day will go. For me breakfast is a meal that I skip most days, but I have recognized that I need to start doing something to fix this problem.
- 1 tablespoon of pure cocoa or cacao nibs
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
- 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
- 2 tablespoons of Jif Peanut Powder
- 1 teaspoon of orange blossom honey
- 24 ounces of unsweetened Silk Almond Mlik
- ½ cup of ice
- 2 cinnamon sticks (optional)
- 2 straws (optional)
- In the blender add the cocoa nibs, the cinnamon, the chia seeds, the Jif Peanut Powder, the orange blossom honey, pour the Silk Almond Milk and add ice.
- Blend on high for 1 minute or two until smoothie is frothy and all ingredients are combined.
- Serve on a nice glass, add a cinnamon stick and a straw.
Honey can be replaced with agave nectar too or with stevia.
The chia seeds can be added at the end and not in the blending process if you prefer the bubbles texture.
