Last July had the chance to participate in the first Food and Wine Conference in Orlando organized by Isabel Laessig better known as Family Foodie a passionate food blogger that is on a mission to bring back Sunday Supper around the family table in every home. One of Isabel’s dreams was to organize the first Food and Wine conference in Orlando and with the support of influential brands and the involvement of Harris Rosen, an important local hotelier executive who got involved in the project and provided the support to hold the Food and Wine Conference at the luxurious Rosen Shingle Creek Resort.
Many foodie celebrities like Sara Moulton an accomplished author of several cookbooks including Sara Moulton Cooks at Home (2002), Sara’s Secrets for Weeknight Meals (2005) and Sara Moulton’s Everyday Family Dinners (2010), “Sara’s Kitchen,” an iPhone app with recipes and current writer for the Associated Press weekly column “The Healthy Plate” was there attending the sessions and participating in the publishing panel. Me myself had the chance to hang out with celebrity chef Katie Workman, author of The Mom 100 Cookbook and the creator of The Mom 100 blog. She gave us useful tips on how to do a successful TV demo and I was able to prep for her alongside fellow bloggers Alaiyo Kiasi and Cindy Kerschner. Other highlights of the Food and Wine Conference included the participation of SEO master Dan Cristo, Director of SEO Innovation for Catalyst Online, although best known as one of the two faces of Triberr.com, a unique Blog Amplification Platform. Dan provided so many great tips on how to better SEO and increase blog amplification. Even though he is the rockstar of the SEO he is so great friend very approachable and willing to answer questions even after his session.
When attending food bloggers conventions the sessions that are always most expected are those regarding food photography, video and styling and what a panel the Food and Wine Conference had: Irvin Lin is a graphic designer and art director turned photographer, writer and baker. His nationally recognized blog Eat the Love was a finalist in the 2011 Saveur magazine Best Food Blog Awards in the category of Best Baking and Dessert Blogs, as well as featured in numerous places like Food New Journal/Food52 News, Bon Appétit‘s Daily Links, The Cooking Channel, US Masterchef Magazine and PBS Food’s 11 Food Blogs We Liked in 2011. Other of my absolute favorites Cheri Alberts who is the creator of TheWateringMouth.com and is the current videographer for SteamyKitchen.com. She provided so many great tips to make video at home easy without a big production, you can see her presentation on slideshare. In addition fellow bloggers that are important to mention and that shared their journey on food photography were Carla Cardello and Renee Dobbs.
Food and Wine conferences are also expected to surprise you with great foodie finds, menus and libations well the Food and Wine Conference did not disappoint the food was excellent quality the Rosen Dining Chefs and their service was top notch and the wine sponsored by the Gallo Family. This experience at the Food and Wine conference this year was so great that I am already looking forward to enjoy another of these events organized by Isabel Laessig on 2014.
Congrats Isabel very happy for your success on this first event that turned out to be amazing cannot imagine what you are preparing for us next year.
Parabéns por um grande sucesso, Isabel!
