Celebrity chef Paula Dean shared her personal story about making healthy lifestyle changes, as well as some of the diabetes-friendly recipes that she created with the Diabetes in a New Light® campaign. She was joined on stage by Marti White, CDE, RN, with Novo Nordisk
Today I had the honor to see Paula Deen live at the Bob Carr Performing Center in Orlando. Many bloggers and foodies from the area were there too alongside Paula Deen’s fan club and followers not to mention the Florida Hospital Chefs and medical community as well as representatives of local restaurants that share the interest for a healthy lifestyle and eating habits.

Paula Deen prepared her Sizzling Chicken Fajitas in a New Light, which was also Healthy 100 Approved in addition to 9 other recipes from Paula Deen
Paula Deen shared with us her journey about living with diabetes, and shared how she helped Florida Hospital unveil 16 local Orlando restaurants that are now serving up healthier options as part of Florida Hospital’s Healthy 100 program. The 16 restaurants featuring Healthy 100 Approved items include: Chick-fil-A, Citrus Club, Cocina 214, Healthy Bites Fitness Cuisine Infusion Café, Nadia’s Café, Panera Bread of Orlando, Rangetsu, Savion’s Place, Second Harvest Food Bank, Simply Divine Food Truck, Sushi House Orlando, RusTeak Restaurant, The Taproom at Dubsdread, White Wolf Café and Yogurtiamo.

Certainly a great initiative that will impact the lives of many people. But stay tuned because Chef Robert Irvine will be coming to town to share his tips for healthy living on May 19!
