During the holiday season we have to come up with appetizer ideas to offer and ¨bruschetta¨is delicious and easy addition to your appetizer table. Here the ingredients you will need:
- 2 big tomatoes (preferably those known as ugly tomatoes or heirloom)
- 1/2 cup of fresh chopped basil
- 2 teaspoons of chopped fresh garlic
- Olive oil
- 1/2 of lemon juice (can be replaced with 1 teaspoon of balsamic vinegar)
- Salt & Pepper
- 1 Basil floret to decorate
For the crostini:
- 1 baguette sliced
- 1 big garlic clove
- Olive oil
- Parmesan cheese (grated)
Preparation time: 15 minutes. Serves 8-10 people. Cost for this recipe is $5.00 per bowl (approximate 3 cups). Price depends on your local ingredients market price. You will need a chopping block, chefs knife, bread knife, bowl for serving and an oven (preferably convection oven type).
Chop the tomatoes, garlic and the basil, combine with the lemon juice and the olive oil, season with salt and pepper and plate in a nice bowl. To prepare the crostini or toast, brush the bread slices with olive oil and the garlic, sprinkle Parmesan cheese and pepper. Toast in the convection oven until golden brown. Enjoy with your guests alongside a nice glass of wine.
